The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Raquel C. Bono, will be assigned as director, National Capital Medical Directorate, Washington, D.C.  Bono is currently serving as fleet surgeon, U.S. Pacific Fleet/command surgeon, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Peter A. Gumataotao, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.  Gumataotao is currently serving as assistant deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, and strategy, N3/5B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Jeffrey A. Harley, will be assigned as president, Board of Inspection and Survey, Virginia Beach, Va.  Harley is currently serving as commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Seven/commander, amphibious force, U.S. Seventh Fleet, Okinawa, Japan.

Rear Adm. Troy M. Shoemaker, will be assigned as commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.  Shoemaker is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group Three, Bremerton, Wash.
