The Navy is establishing a V-22 Osprey training detachment
The Navy announced in a Dec. 1 memo that a detachment to train crews and maintenance personnel for the Navy CMV-22B tilt-rotor carrier-onboard-delivery (COD) aircraft is on the horizon.
Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina, will be home to the Airborne Command and Control Logistics Wing. The detachment will be associated with Marine Medium Tilt-Rotor Training Squadron 204. Naval Air Forces could not be reached for comment as of Dec. 23.
“The Navy plans to procure 44 CMV-22Bs beginning in 2018, with first deliveries scheduled for 2020,” according to the Navy League’s official publication, Seapower Magazine.
